The Obama administration is holding a jobs summit at the White House today. One must ask: Why didn’t Obama do this before he signed the $787 billion economic stimulus bill into law? Those attending the summit include corporate leaders, economists, small-business representatives, and union officials, according to The Washington Post. But what might be more interesting is who has not been invited: a number of trade associations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has been critical of the administration’s economic policies. The Post article cites Obama officials as saying they want to listen to these groups, so why weren’t they at the summit??
Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress are already ready to act. TIME Magazine reports they are considering a “jobs” bill. Wasn’t that what the economic stimulus was supposed to be?
