Union payback

Lisa Blais has an excellent article on the Examiner discussing the recent changes to the RI Board of Regents.

Three Regents, including the chairman, have been replaced by Governor Chafee, people who were key reformers in Rhode Island. Instead, he has seemingly stopped short just as we had gained critical momentum by appointing the chairmanship to a former legislator legendary for the Caruolo Act; a law that allows school committees to sue its own taxpaying community for more money. The problem with this law is that that it never did improve the quality of education and instead plowed more dollars into maintaining labor peace in the form of unaffordable salaries and unsustainable benefits and of course union dues.
